July 26-28, 2010: West Virginia Disability Caucus, Charleston, WV. West Virginia Statewide Independent Living Council and a coalition of other organizations are sponsoring the 2010 West Virginia Disability Caucus. This year’s event has a special focus on the 20th Anniversary of the ADA. 3 days of activities include a celebration of the anniversary on the evening of July 26 with food, music and speakers who will share their thoughts and memories on the passage and implementation of the ADA. Oct. 9-12, 2010: Universal Design Summit 4: Creating Universal Homes & Communities, St. Louis, MO. The R. L. Mace Universal Design Institute has collaborated with the Starkloff Disability Institute to provide a national conference focused on universal design housing and communities. The conference will include informatl discussions, breakout and plenary sessions. There will be exhibits, design charettes, workshops and tours of universally designed neighborhoods and housing.

bring together members of the design/build
community, the healthcare industry, the disabled
community, and governmental agencies to facilitate
the transfer of knowledge that will build empathy and

products and spaces.

solutions, barriers to mobility and adequate
transportation, and community design that
encourages recreational engagement across many
