Accessibility Features Need Support, Too
Deborah Kendrick of the Columbus Dispatch writes about experiences consumers, including herself, have had with iPhone's accessibility features. While many people appreciate the steps Apple has taken to make their popular product accessible to everyone, the consensus seems to be that the customer service support for the iPhone does not have the same understanding of the accessibility features as the users do.
Sonar for the Blind
A new product design makes use of Sonar technology to enable a person with vision impairment to navigate complex environments. Steve Hoeffer, a globally recognized inventor out of San Francisco, CA, developed this device that measures the distance to things and translates that into pressure on the wrist of the wearer. The greater the pressure, the closer the object.
