Custom Fit : Modifications Allow People with Disabilities to Stay at Home
The notion of Aging-in-Place refers to persons remaining in their home as their needs for accessibility change. Emotional ties to the home often cause people to chose to remodel in order to accomodate their abilities. The same considerations should be applied in cases where children have disabilities, possibly progressive, that prevent them from full accessibility. Taking a child out of his house and neighborhood because of these limitations means taking the child out of their comfort zone. The concept of "Aging in Place" can be applied to all ages as it is based in a desire to remain at home.
