‘Aging in Place’ Requires Good Fortune and Support Services
As the "Baby Boomer" population approaches retirement, the idea of "Aging in Place" is becoming more popular. Based on surveys conducted by the AARP and Associated Press, it can be concluded that the majority of the generation prefers to remain in their homes indefinetely.
This not only requires a home designed to support the process of aging; it requires strong community support. The "Village" concept is gaining traction as it attempts to solve some of these issues. The movement involves commmunity volunteers to help those who would otherwise need to move into the traditional assisted living communities.
