International Best Practices for Universal Design: A Global Review

Title Page of International Best Practices Betty Dion, president of the Global Alliance on Accessibility Technology and Environments (GAATES), has authored a book investigating how to create more accessible built environments for people with disabilities and older persons around the world. International Best Practices for Universal Design: A Global Review compares international codes and practices from 16 international jurisdictions, inorder to determine the "best practice" for common accessibility issues. Some issues covered in the book include: doorways, ramps, washrooms, turning radius, communications, and the use of colour and texture in wayfinding cues. The book is also available on on the GAATES website in French, Spanish, Serbian, Arabic, and DAISY for blind or visually impaired persons.
