Sound Sense: Online Braille Library Launched in India
The National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIVH) in India recently launched an online Braille library to allow vision-impaired post-graduate students to easily access the texts that they need for their studies.
The online library has both Braille and audio version of over 12,000 texts in 14 different languages. NIVH will start by training the staff and visually-impaired students from over 100 universities across India. The library was launched on January 4th, the birthday of Louise Braille, the creator of the six-dot language for people with visual-impairments.
