Reasonable Accommodation

Steps

“Reasonable Accommodations”, is a term used in the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 to refer to the obligations of the apartment industry to people with disabilities.  The term implies variations in the responsibility of the owner, depending on the owner’s financial solvency and expectations of enforcement officials.

The meaning of "Reasonable Accommodations" includes the idea of "bending but not breaking."  Other aspects to be considered in “Reasonable Accommodations” requirement include unexpected disabilities, resentment from residents without disabilities, and apartment policies beyond leasing.
